Countdown to Thanksgiving

Only one week to go until one of my favorite holidays of the year: Thanksgiving. The family, the football, and of course, the food. We're spending the holiday with Jon's parents and sister and 2 trainees from Fort Sam.
I'm really looking forward to the cooking and plan on shopping this weekend so I can get a head start on my dishes.
Game plan for this year:
1. Cranberry-Apple Relish
Cranberries are definitely one of my favorite foods and I love eating leftover cranberry sauce on everything. I've made this relish before and it was a hit with all the cranberry lovers.

2. Chorrizo Cornbread Dressing
My cousin Katie made this dressing last year and it was the best dressing I've ever had. She shared her recipe with me and I'm excited to try it myself. I told Jon's family that I wanted to bring the dressing and his mom and sister said it's not Thanksgiving without stuffing, so it looks like we'll be having both stuffing and dressing at the table this year.

3. Oatmeal Pecan Pie
My grandma has a wonderful pecan pie recipe, a good, traditional recipe that she got off the back of the Karo syrup package decades ago. Unfortunately I can't make it consistently; last year I ended up with a burnt crust and runny middle. This will be my first time to try this recipe so I'm counting on the rave reviews it received on myrecipes.com to guide me. Hopefully this new recipe will be just a yummy as Mema's original.

Let the cooking begin
