Gingerbread House-Making Party

To kick off the Christmas break I hosted a gingerbread house-making party for a group ofgirlfriends. To prepare for the party I made the house frames out of graham crackers the day before to make sure the houses were sturdy by the time of the party. I also prepared royal icing-filled pastry bags for each girl.

In total we had 8 girls at the party. I was thrilled to see friends from different circles meet and have such a good time together. Using the tips other bloggers had posted about hosting this kind of party was really helpful. The most useful ones were to ask each girl to bring a sturdy base for their house and candy to share. The most-used candies were the marshmallows, red hots, and jelly beans. All of the houses turned out beautiful and unique.

Megan used lots of colored marshmallows
Amber brought her own house from a kit and made an additional graham cracker mini-house

Elaine brought her own dinosaur cookies to decorate and place in her "yard"
Catherine's house was colorful and detailed. A cut marshmallow over the doorway had a "B" painted on it for her last name

Nicole used peppermints, marshmallows, pretzels, and red-hots to create a red and white house. My favorite detail is her peppermint archways

Christina's house was the neatest and most organized
My house had a red roof and two ice cream cone-trees

Megan, Elaine, Alex, and me with our finished projects

Amber and Catherine made such colorful houses!
Hopefully this party will become a yearly event :)

It looks like you girls had so much fun. And I know you said you weren't going to eat yours, but that red roof sure looks tempting :)
