Valentine's Day Crafts

I've been itching to make cookie bouquets for a while now. Valentine's Day provided the perfect excuse.I made a half-batch of cut out cookies, which made about 17 large-heart shaped cookies.

The cookies came out of the oven a little misshapen, but this wasn't noticeable once they were decorated.

The day before V-day Stephanie and Amber came over to decorate the cookies with icing. I flavored the icing with almond extract and added marashino cherry juice to the pink and red icing for color and a light cherry flavor.

She decided not to arrange hers into a bouquet

After decorating the cookies Stephanie and I arranged ours in themed coffee mugs with silk flowers and ribbon.

I made my bouquet with a white mug and white flower

Jon really liked his gift (paired with cupid-print boxers)....even if I ended up eating more of the cookies than he did! Jon got me a pretty bouquet of white and purple flowers (not sure what they are) and delicious wine-filled chocolates. The port-filled dark chocolates we've tried are amazing. I can't wait to try the champagne and Cabernet-filled ones.
