Jackson's Seventh Month

  • Height = 27 inches, Weight = 16 lb, 6 oz
  • Size 3 diapers, size 6-9 month clothes
  • You are getting so good at getting around by rolling. We call you our little rolly-polly. You can pivot on your belly to turn, and quickly roll to reach any toy.
  • You are strengthening your arms and legs to get ready to crawl. Age 6 m, 1 wk: When we put you down on our stomach you make little swimming movements like you are practicing. Age 6 m, 4 wks: You put yourself into the crawling position, holding up your belly. You also make short lunges forward.
This month Papa and Grandma Sarita came to visit. While they were here we went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore and you enjoyed seeing the fish, birds, and turtles.

  • You tried solids foods for the first time! You are still learning what to do with food are love to explore their taste and texture. The first week, you tried banana, apple, carrot, acorn squash. You liked squash the best and carrot the least.
  • We brought out a new toy: your jumperoo. You love to bounce up and down, sometimes for as long as 30 minutes at a time. You are filled with energy.
  • You love your daddy so much! He loves to make you giggle by making funny faces or using your puppy blanket as a puppet. You and your dad have so much fun together that he can't be in the same room while you're nursing because you get too distracted.
  • Your coos have progressed to babbles. You can now make some consonants sounds: B, D, H, G, L, M, N, W. You get especially talkative when you're eating, like you are talking to your food.
  • We left you with a babysitter for the first time. Her name is Fiori, and she's another military wife. I was a little nervous, but you did great! You didn't cry at all, and you were a perfect angel for the babysitter.
  • For a week at the middle of the month you had some really rough nights, which was uncharacteristic for our good sleeper. One Monday night you were up every 1-2 hours crying uncontrollably, and even bringing you into our bed didn't help. The next day all 3 of us were exhausted! We started to use the cry it out method, and we all sleep better after now.
  • At the end of the month you started to consolidate naps. You are starting to take 2-3 longer naps on some days. Usually you nap at 8:30 and 12:30 for 60-90 minutes, and sometimes a short nap at 4:30.
  • Favorite toys: Jumperoo, activity gym
