Spring Break Fun

Last week was the dental school spring break. It was a few weeks later than everyone else's break (including Jon's) but we had such beautiful weather that I didn't mind. The week was wonderful- just the right balance of fun and relaxation. Plus, with Jon's class schedule, we got to hang out together every afternoon and evening during the week.
Fun things we did over spring break:

1. On Sunday Cheryl and I walked in the Cap10K in Austin. We finished in 1h30min, which was 4 minutes faster than last year. I'm really proud of us for bring our A game!

2. Tuesday afternoons after 3 are free at the Whitte Museum, so Jon and I had to check it out. We got there a little before 3, so we walked around neighboring Brackenridge park and enjoyed seeing all the birds swimming in the river. A little over 2 years ago Jon and I were at that park getting engagement pictures taken! (Here are some taken on the same day at a different location)
My favorite part of the museum was the Science Treehouse withe lots of interactive toys and games.
I rode on the Sky Cycle, a bike you can ride on a cable because of the large counterweight.

3. Thursday afternoon we went to Sea World to redeem our 2009 season passes and check out some of our favorite animals. The seals and sea lions were in top form, doing lots of tricks to try to get fish. At the Viva show the beluga whale had given birth last fall. This spring her baby followed close behind her during the entire show. The momma and baby beluga made such a cute couple!

4. Friday-Saturday Jon and I went up to my grandma's ranch in Bandera to relax and enjoy the outdoors with the Konkles and Careys. We hiked around, cooked over a fire, made smores, and rode the ATV. I'm so fortunate to have such great friends in my class.

All in all, spring break was great. Now this week it's back to the daily grind of school, labwork, and studying. Just 5 1/2 weeks to go until I'm done with 2nd year!
