Freetaill's Beer Dinner

My Christmas present for Jon this year was a pair of tickets to Freetail Brewing Co's Winter Beer Dinner. The restaurant area had two long tables set up with white tableclothes. At first we thought it would be awkward to sit with random people, but we sat next to some fun young couples and enjoyed good conversation.

The dinner included 4 delicious courses, each accompanied by a different beer.
  1. Assorted cheeses with La Rubia and Torpor Porter
  2. Spinach Salad w/ strawberries, orange slices and candied walnuts served with
Rye Wit Raspberry dressing; paired with Spiced Rye Wit
  3. Porter braised short ribs w/ wasabi mashed potatoes or Seafood Soup; paired with Double Secrete IPA & Gnome-Brewed Version of Freetail Ale
  4. Chocolate Stout Cake w/ Rye Wit Raspberry compote; paired with Old Batch Rochetail.
Our entrees

Jon loves specialty beers while I'm more of a wine girl myself. However, after tasting a little of each of the beer samples, I can appreciate the wide varieties of flavors and food pairings. I can honestly say that before tonight I hadn't realized 8 beers could taste so different.
The food was delicious and I would buy tickets to the next dinner just to see what creations the chef has in store.
