Sunday field trip

Last Sunday we had beautiful weather, so Jon and I took advantage of the day by making an excursion to the San Antonio Zoo. It's funny how on Sunday we wore shorts and skirts to the zoo, during the week it was cold and snowed (!), and this weekend was beautiful again. Crazy Texas weather.
My favorite animal was the Asian elephant. Apparently the elephant thought the sunny day for perfect for playing in his pond, because we watched him splash around in the water for at least 10 minutes. He was also pushing around a huge log like it was a twig. Elephants are strong.


Jon's favorite exhibit was the lorikeets. Visitors can walk into their enclosure, and even feed the birds nectar for just $1.25. The birds loved Jon! At one point he had three birds perched on him. I liked feeding the birds nectar, but was not too thrilled when one tried to climb on my neck through my hair. Yuck.
