Camping at Enchanted Rock

Last week the dental school canceled classes on Thursday and Friday to give students and faculty the chance to go to the ADA National Convention held at the Alamodome. In other words: four-day weekend! The timing could not have been better- right before the test we had a big pathology exam and operative practical exam, so we really needed the break.
To make the most of our days off Jon and I planned a camping trip to Enchanted Rock with our friends Dylan and Megan.

Jon and I drove up early Saturday morning and the four of us spent the afternoon hiking up the "summit" of enchanted rock and exploring the surrounding trails. The weather was absolutely perfect: sunny, clear, and highs in the 80's. Enchanted Rock is a huge outcropping of granite in the middle of the Hill Country. It's beautiful but looks totally out of place. The views from the top of the rock were amazing!

After our hike we set up camp and relaxed around the campsite. The guys built us a campfire (built with the 3 logs the ranger station sold us for $5- what a rip-off) and we made brats and s'mores for dinner. Then we had a lazy evening playing cards and talking around the campfire. The next morning we packed up and headed back to SA. We need to make an October camping trip an annual event!
