Dinner and a Movie

Last night Jon and I went out for a fun date night. Being the frugal (aka cheap) couple we are we were planning on eating dinner at home beforehand, but after a mini-disaster in the kitchen we had to change our plans and go out to eat instead. Luckily I had just read a review in the paper about a new Italian restaurant Giuseppe's Ristorante not far from our house and on the way to the movie theater. Jon and I split a delicious Margherita Calzone for less than $9. Not too bad for an unbudgeted dinner out, and now we found a great new place for reasonably-priced Italian food.
Jon had been wanting to see Star Trek but I was hesitant because I was never into the show. But after hearing so many good things about the movie from various sources, I agreed and ended up really enjoying it. There was a nice mix of action and character development, and it wasn't necessary to know the characters from the old shows to follow along. One of the things I hate the most about movies is when they get too long. Star Trek was 2 hrs (about my upper limit) but it went by so fast that at the end of it Jon and I were both asking "has it already been 2 hours?".
All in all it was a fun evening and a great way to kick off Memorial Day weekend.
