Summer Rotation Week 1, plus lunch at The Cove

Friday I finished week 1 of 4 of my summer oral surgery rotation. After two years of dental school spend in the lecture hall and lab, it's great to finally get into the clinic and treat real patients. After just one week I'm already feeling a lot more comfortable in the clinic. I'm learning to give injections, extract teeth, make incisions with a scalpel, alveoplasty, suture, write prescriptions, and make notes in a chart. I can't wait to see what week 2 will bring.

Lunch at The Cove

Jon and I love watching Food Network, including Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, where Guy Fieri goes around the country sampling food from across the country. Last weekend we were watching the show with Christina and bf Jim when they featured The Cove, a combination laundry mat-car wash-restaurant in downtown San Antonio. Jim was only in town for a few days, so the 4 of us decided to go on Monday during my lunch break. Luckily the restaurant is only 1.5 miles from the downtown clinic I was at that day.

The restaurant was really good. I ordered a portobello mushroom burger with sweet potatoes fries and Jon got a burger with ham and avocado. It was fun ordering one of the dishes featured on the show. Both were excellent, especially the Spicy Poblano Sauce on the portobello burger. The atmosphere was fun, casual, and eclectic.
It's definitely a restaurant we'll have to check out again the next time we're downtown.

I'm glad to hear you liked The Cove! My Aunt and Uncle saw that place on TV and tried it out when they were here for the last dental convention. Jeffrey and I want to make a trip over there sometime soon.
