Jon's Summer Job

Jon just finished his first week at his summer job, working as a camp counselor at our church's day camp. Jon's class is made up of 20 4th and 5th graders. From 8:30 am to 5:30 pm he tries to keep them busy and out of trouble, so he and the other counselors have tons of activities planned for them. Every day they do craft projects, PE, recess, devotionals, academic reviews, quiet play, games, and more. Next week they'll be busy 3 of the 5 days with fields trips: to the Alamo/IMAX, swimming pool, and carnival.
So what does Jon think of his job? He says it's fun but exhausting. Every day he comes home sweaty and tired. He's getting to know his campers well and who is friends with who. I asked him how he likes 4th and 5th grade compared to the younger kids (the camp serves grades K-5th) and he replied "The kindergartners get nap time. That would be nice."
The staff uniform is right up Jon's alley: shorts and t-shirts. The staff shirt is Barney-purple. (There are only 2 males counselors out of 20 staffers) How does Jon like wearing a purple shirt? 1. He says it's better than last year's shirt, which was neon pink. 2. Since he is color-blind the shirt looks blue to him.
I guess being color-blind does have it's advantages :)
I'm incredibly thankful that Jon found a job, even if it's only a summer job. We're already scheming about how to spend his first paycheck. Maybe we'll buy a lawnmower.
