Sunday night of Spring Break. Some of my classmates might be dreading going to school tomorrow, but I'm really not. Instead, I'm looking forward to finishing up my clinic requirements for the year and having 3rd year under my belt. Just over 2 months to go until summer.
Physically, spring break has been pretty relaxing. Sleeping late, reading a good book for fun (Drums of Autumn in the Outlander series), and trying out yummy new recipes.
Mentally, it's been a little stressful. With the day-to-day stress of clinic temporarily gone, I've had more time to think about long-term goals for the next 5-10 years. I went to the Dunn Dental Clinic at Lackland Air Force Base to take a tour and talk to some of the dental officers there. One of the officers asked what kind of dentistry I wanted to do (general dentistry, specialty, teaching, ect). After only being in the clinic for 9 months, I could honestly answer that I really didn't know.
Why am I stressing about this now? Because this summer I'll be applying for Air Force residencies and by that time I need to have some long-term goals worked out. Not just my professional goals, but also our family goals, while keeping in mind Jon's career. I'm very fortunate to have a husband who will support me in whatever I want to do.
This week I've been thinking and praying a lot, discussing with Jon, and talking about it with friends. When I have a big decision to make I tend to worry a lot. I'm looking forward to getting back to school tomorrow so I don't have to think about it so much! Hopefully the new few months will bring me some clarity on these issues.
