This week I am 35 weeks pregnant!!
In a few short days I'll be a month away from my due date (July 9).
How far along? 35 wks
Total weight gain/loss: 22.5 lbs. According to my weekly babyzone newsletter the baby now weighs over 5 lbs. I can tell he is getting big! Carrying him around everywhere is starting to get heavy.
Maternity clothes? I'm starting to get sick of my maternity clothes, but don't want to buy any more. I'm hoping that the weather here will soon be appropriate for the sleeveless maternity shirts my cousins lent me to help add some variety to my wardrobe.
At work I have to wear a belly band over my clinic-provided scrubs to keep my pants from falling down. This works well for functionality but another layer over my belly just makes me hotter while I work. The thermometer in my operatory says 72F but I swear it feels like a sauna in there!
Stretch marks? None yet. Fingers crossed.
Sleep: I've been sleeping with 1 extra pillow between my knees for the last few months. Now I feel like I need another extra pillow to support my growing belly. As soon as I turn to my side the baby shifts and starts kicking. Those full-body pregnancy pillows at Babies R Us that I used to laugh at are starting to look much more appealing.
Funniest moment this week: My 3-year old neighbor Noella understands that I 'm pregnant, so every time she sees me she likes to knock on my belly and say "there's a baby in there!"
Low point of week: My co-resident Dannon told me that my scrubs make me look like I'm wearing a fat suit. I feel sorry for his wife when she gets pregnant! Luckily I don't take anything he says too seriously and I know I'm not actually fat, just 8 months pregnant!
Movement: All the time! I love feeling him move around throughout the day.
Cravings: I've never been a big soda or Gatorade drinker, but my new favorite drink is 6 oz of Sprite Zero mixed with 6 oz Gatorade. Delicious!
Gender: Baby boy! My brother recently mailed us a baby Spurs jersey. The Spurs may have just lost their series, but I can't wait to see our little guy in a Spurs jersey :)
Labor Signs: None yet, thank goodness! My yoga instructor/childbirth education instructor told me that because of how I"m carrying I'll definitely know when the baby drops.
Belly Button in or out? Out, and growing rounder by the day (just like everything else!)
What I miss: I just finished my prenatal yoga/childbirth education class, and I already miss it! I've been going every Tuesday night from 7-9 for the past 10 weeks, and we had our last class this week. I learned a lot in the class about the stages of labor and different positions to try, which I think will really come in handy. I also credit the yoga class for minimizing my back pain- I have less back pain now than I did at the beginning of the 2nd trimester when I had a much smaller belly.
To fill in the void I ordered some pregnancy fitness DVDs from netflix. Tonight I tried out "Denise Austin's Fit and Firm Pregnancy". It wasn't yoga but was a decent workout
What I am looking forward to: Decorating the nursery this weekend. Jon's sister Christina is coming to visit and she doesn't know it but I'm planning on using her eye for design to help us decorate.
We started going over our hypnobabies birth scripts together. Jon's also been great about walking with me every night. We love walking along the river, taking in the sights (we can see the National Cathedral and Washington Monument!) and enjoying the river breezes. What about Dad?: He spent last weekend in Ohio at a gaming convention, where he met up with some friends from San Antonio. It was his last "guys trip" pre-baby.
