Most years for Christmas I don't give my dad a traditional store-bought present. Last year I gave him my time- I chaperoned 2 ladies from a cleaning service scrub his house from top to bottom. This year he asked me to make him a shadowbox to showcase his old-time fishing lures. He had collected a big box full of lures from his grandpa and great-uncle, including several wooden lures that haven't been made in decades.

My favorite lure was a wooden one that looked like a ladybug and had a long tail.

This was my first venture into shadow-box making, and all of the lures still had their hooks. Thankfully I'm up-to-date on my tetanus booster! I didn't get them finished by Christmas so they got delivered a few weeks late. After a few false starts, the finished products turned out pretty well.
