I was Jon's assistant for part of the assembly, but while Jon and Jim were doing the heavy lifting Jon's mom Cheryl and I were cheering them on from our lawn chairs, working on our tans. That lasted about 10 minutes before we decided we were too pale to engage in such behavior and went inside. Then Cheryl taught me how to iron. That's right, I didn't know how. My mom tried to teach me in high school but I was never interested in learning. And since Jon and I usually dress casually, there was never a reason to learn after we got married. Now that Jon has to dress professionally to student teach, there is ironing to be done. I'm proud to say that since my lesson from Cheryl I've successfully ironed one pair of pants without incident. I better get good at ironing since I'll need to do a lot of it once I'm active duty in the Air Force.

Our New Garden..and learning a new skill
Last weekend Jon built us an awesome raised garden in the backyard. It's not too big, only 5 ft x 3 ft, but it big enough for 2 full-size tomato plants and 3 zucchinis. Jon's dad Jim was an awesome help with the assembly. I'm very thankful to have a husband who is so handy with powertools and not afraid to get his hands dirty :) We also planted several cherry tomatoes and herbs in pots on the patio, so this year our garden will be pretty big.

I don't exactly know the proper way to iron either. We own an iron, but no ironing board and we NEVER iron. I don't remember ironing one single thing since we've been married!
I didn't know you were doing the Air Force, that is really awesome!
I don't think I new there was a special way to iron? Maybe there is! I seem to iron a lot though... but I think it is relaxing!
